Foreign Minister Extends Condolences To Egypt Over South Sinai Road Accident

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Wednesday extended the Kingdom's condolences to Egypt over the victims of a road accident on the Dahab–Nuweiba highway in South Sinai, which resulted in several deaths and injuries, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Receiving a phone call from Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, Safadi thanked Egypt for its cooperation and efforts to follow up on the injured Jordanians and facilitate the transfer of the victims' bodies, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Abdelatty stressed the readiness of the relevant Egyptian authorities to provide all necessary care for the injured and complete procedures for transferring the bodies of the Jordanians to the Kingdom.

The Foreign Ministry and the Jordanian embassy in Cairo were continuing to follow up on the condition of the Jordanian citizens, provide necessary assistance and complete the required procedures.

Ten Jordanians died after a passenger bus carrying 43 people, including 22 Jordanians, overturned on the Dahab–Nuweiba highway in Egypt's South Sinai Governorate.

Earlier in the day, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Fouad Majali said that a specialised team from the embassy was travelling to Nuweiba to assess the condition of the injured Jordanians and make arrangements for repatriating the bodies of those who died to the Kingdom.

Majali expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
