David Nolan Gallery Relocates To Larger Tribeca Space

(MENAFN- USA Art News) David Nolan Gallery is moving from New York's Upper East Side to a larger 6,000-square-foot space in Tribeca, the gallery announced. Owner David Nolan characterized the move as a vote of confidence in the art market despite its current contraction.

“At a time when the art world is contracting, in my usual subversive fashion, I wanted to place a bet on the industry and show my confidence in my artists and long-time collectors, along with expanding our collaborations with other galleries outside the U.S.,” Nolan said in a press release. He added that taking risks is an inherent part of gallery operations and that“after almost 40 years in the business, my gallery has watched change come many times over.” Nolan affirmed his belief in the artists he exhibits, as well as the loyal collectors and curators he has collaborated with for decades, stating,“I feel certain that this is the right moment to expand.”

The new gallery will occupy two floors of a 1920s-era building on Leonard Street. Its design was overseen by studioMDA, founded by Markus Dochantschi, who previously designed Nolan's inaugural Chelsea space with artist Richard Artschwager. The gallery is one of 74 participants in Art Week NYC, an initiative presented by ARTnews, Art in America, and Artforum from November 11 to 14. The inaugural exhibition will open on September 9, featuring early 1960s works by Italian painter Valerio Adami. A November exhibition will present sculptures by Chakaia Booker. Programming planned for 2027 will include a focus on“overlooked artists,” according to the press release, referring to those whose work has been commercially simplified or ignored by more exclusive art world segments.
