Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) opened the exhibition "Hubb | Love" by artist Shahida Ahmed in Building 18 - Gallery 2, lasting until September 12.

The exhibition, opened on Monday night, features 24 paintings and three installations, giving its visitors a contemporary look of the concept of love as a universal language that transcends borders and cultural and language differences, as well as its role in creating bridges of communication and understanding between people.

Artist Shahida Ahmed, in regard to her intent for the exhibition, said that love is a human language that does not need translation and art can express this in a way that goes beyond words and geographical borders.

Through these artworks, she aims to show that "love" is not simply a written word, but an embodiment of a feeling and a visual experience that any human can sense.

She said that Arabic calligraphy has beauty and visual richness, a key inspiration in the work. She explained that she found in the Arabic letters an opportunity to discover the relations between words, shapes, colors, and light.

"Hubb | Love" aims to reflect the values of peace, solidarity and communication, and open doors for dialogue between cultures through art, she added.

Shahida Ahmed is an award-wining contemporary British artist. She is also a writer and a podcast presenter. Her work is themed on language, identity, culture, and human connection.
