Ukraine To Receive New Air Defense Packages From Germany In Sept Zelensky
He said that he and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed the Russian attack on the airport in Leipzig.
“This is yet another Russian escalation, and it is important that Germany responded. Friedrich briefed me on the measures taken. For my part, I assured him that Ukraine is ready to help – with expertise, experience, or in other areas where Germany may need it,” Zelensky said.
According to the Ukrainian President, the teams are already finalizing the text of the Drone Deal, which, among other things, will clearly enhance defense capabilities for both Germany and Ukraine.
“We discussed the substance of the agreement and when we will be able to sign it. We agreed to meet in person. I also thanked Friedrich for Germany's steadfast support and leadership in protecting the lives of Ukrainians – there will be new air defense packages from Germany this month,” the President emphasized.

Due to the airport's closure, several aircraft were diverted to other airports. According to preliminary reports, one cargo aircraft collided with another drone at an altitude of several hundred meters and then landed safely in Hanover.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as a“hybrid attack scenario,” while stressing that the possible perpetrator has not yet been identified.
Media later reported that the Ukrainian aircraft near which the explosive-carrying drone was discovered had been loaded with ammunition.
Germany will take a number of measures in response to the act of sabotage at Leipzig Airport, which German politicians and intelligence services believe was orchestrated by Russia.
