Iranian Official Warns of Firm Response After US Attack
(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei says Tehran will respond “with firmness” following a US strike on a residential property in Sirik County that Iranian authorities say was hosting a wedding ceremony.
Baqaei says more than 50 men, women and children were killed or injured in the attack. He describes the strike as part of a wider series of US attacks that also affected areas including Minab, Lamerd and Qeshm.
“The United States’ catalogue of atrocities against the nation of Iran is now complete,” he said.
The Iranian spokesman also criticizes governments and international organizations that have either remained silent or sought to defend the attacks. He argues that failing to condemn the strikes does not amount to neutrality.
“Their silence is not neutrality,” he said, warning that those who remain silent “will not be immune to its consequences tomorrow.”
The statements come after the US military says it has carried out attacks against targets belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) inside Iran.
Following the announcement, reports say explosions are heard in several locations across southern Iran, including Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak.
The developments further escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides exchanging military strikes and issuing warnings of additional responses.
