Iran Missiles Trigger Sirens in Jordan After US Strikes
(MENAFN) Sirens blared across Jordan's Mafraq and Aqaba governorates on Tuesday following missile launches from Iran, according to state broadcaster media.
Jordan's national center for security and crisis management moved quickly, blasting emergency text alerts that told residents to seek shelter and follow official guidance, the broadcaster said.
The alert came on the heels of an announcement from US Central Command, which confirmed American forces had launched strikes against sites linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Tehran responded shortly after, declaring it had launched retaliatory strikes of its own.
The exchange marks the latest flashpoint in a conflict that has kept Washington and Tehran locked in confrontation since fighting first erupted with strikes on Iran in late February. A framework agreement, brokered through Pakistani and Qatari mediation, was reached in June — but it did little to hold. By July, the US had launched a two-week bombing campaign and reinstated a naval blockade following a standoff over navigation rights in the strait.
