Jordan Intercepts 10 of 13 Missiles in Second Iranian Strike
(MENAFN) Jordanian air defense systems shot down 10 of 13 ballistic missiles that crossed into the kingdom's airspace Wednesday, while the remaining three landed in remote areas, according to a Jordanian news agency.
The report emerged amid escalating regional tensions, marking the second Iranian missile attack aimed at Jordan within a span of less than 48 hours.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had earlier stated that it struck a U.S. Marine base in Jordan known as "Camp Titin" with ballistic missiles, describing the assault as retaliation for a U.S. strike on a residence hosting a wedding celebration in Sirik County, located in Iran's Hormozgan province.
The IRGC alleged that numerous American soldiers were killed in the strike, while U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Tuesday that it had carried out strikes against IRGC targets inside Iran. Iranian officials said preliminary assessments indicated at least four people were killed and 50 injured after a U.S. strike hit a residence and wedding ceremony in Kuhestek.
None of the casualty figures or attack claims from either side have been independently verified.
