Iran Says It Struck US Base in Bahrain With Drones
(MENAFN) Iran's Army announced Wednesday that it had launched a drone strike against American military installations at the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, framing the assault as payback for what it called U.S. hostility toward southern Iran, according to state media.
According to a statement carried by Iranian media, the Army's Public Relations Department said the strike was executed as part of the "29th phase of Operation Saeeqah."
Iran's military asserted that its forces had struck radar systems and assembly points used by American troops stationed at the base, saying the operation involved "massive drone attacks."
Officials in Tehran characterized Sheikh Isa as a critical American military hub in the Persian Gulf region, saying it is used for the repair and maintenance of helicopters and drone components, and hosts reconnaissance aircraft.
