Iran Vows 'Firm' Response After Wedding Strike Kills, Wounds Dozens
(MENAFN) Tehran will strike back "with firmness" following an attack on a home in Sirik County that Iranian officials say was hosting a wedding celebration, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Wednesday.
In a post on X, Baqaei said more than 50 men, women and children were killed or injured in the strike, which he tied to a wider series of attacks hitting Minab, Lamerd, Qeshm and other areas.
"The United States' catalogue of atrocities against the nation of Iran is now complete," he wrote.
Baqaei sharply criticized governments and international bodies that have stayed quiet on the strikes or sought to justify them. "Their silence is not neutrality," he said, cautioning that those staying silent "will not be immune to its consequences tomorrow."
The strike came after CENTCOM, the US military's Central Command, confirmed it had carried out attacks on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets inside Iran. Iranian media outlets reported explosions shortly afterward across Qeshm Island and in the cities of Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak.
Iranian state television separately reported that Jiroft Airport in Kerman Province had also come under fire.
Ahmad Nafisi, Hormozgan Province's deputy governor, said earlier that preliminary figures showed at least four people dead and 50 wounded in what Iran alleges was a US strike on the wedding gathering.
