Pakistan Says Islamabad MoU Offers Path to End US-Iran Conflict
(MENAFN) Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar says fully carrying out the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in June is essential to resolving the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.
Speaking during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Dar stresses the importance of diplomatic efforts in easing regional tensions.
The two officials hold a “warm exchange” focused on bilateral relations and developments across the region, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.
Dar emphasizes that dialogue and diplomacy remain crucial to achieving peace and stability throughout the region. He also points to the June agreement as the key framework for ending the confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
“The sincere implementation by both parties to the conflict of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding of June 2026 remains the only way forward,” according to the ministry.
Dar and Araghchi further stress the need to maintain communication between Pakistan and Iran as tensions continue to affect the wider region.
