Xi Jinping Visits Egypt to Strengthen Strategic Cooperation
(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to travel to Egypt on Tuesday for official talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, with discussions expected to focus on expanding cooperation between the two countries as well as major regional and international developments.
According to the Egyptian presidency, Sisi is scheduled to welcome Xi during his official trip, although no details have been provided about how long the visit will last.
The talks are expected to examine ways to deepen political, economic and development ties while assessing progress in implementing the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement that China and Egypt signed in 2014.
The two presidents are also expected to exchange views on regional and global matters of shared interest as they seek to strengthen coordination between Cairo and Beijing.
In comments published in Egyptian state-run newspapers, Xi describes the relationship between China and Egypt as being at its “best period in history” following seven decades of diplomatic friendship.
He calls for further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership, broader high-quality cooperation through China's Belt and Road Initiative, increased cultural engagement and closer coordination between China and Arab and African countries.
