Lidder Swells, Flash Flood-Like Conditions Hit Pahalgam

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Heavy rainfall triggered flash flood-like conditions in parts of Pahalgam on Tuesday, with the swollen Lidder River overflowing at several points and waterlogging roads in the popular south Kashmir resort.

The increase in water flow in the Lidder River led to flooding of roads and affected movement in several areas, with driving conditions becoming difficult amid continued rainfall.

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has cautioned that intense showers at vulnerable locations could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides.

The weather office has forecast a gradual decline in rainfall activity from Wednesday. Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally dry weather from September 2 to 10, although isolated to scattered rain or thundershowers may occur during the period.
