Zelensky Vows Not To Launch Strikes During Meetings In Moscow

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The head of state made the statement in his nightly video address, Ukrinform reports.

"Ukraine is a country of peace. And we truly respect the fact that our partners want to help bring this war to an end. And we support every such attempt. When the Americans asked us to pause strikes on Moscow and St. Petersburg on August 25, 26 and 27, we observed that pause. There were no strikes. There were [Russian] strikes against Ukraine. When another world power asked us to establish a pause in strikes in the Vladivostok direction for a specified period, we will ensure that as well. New meetings are now being prepared in Moscow, and we will take this into account," he said.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine supports steps toward a peaceful settlement and, for the sake of diplomacy, will ensure "that the Russian skies are cleared of drones for specified periods of time and in specified directions."

As was earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned airlines that Russian airspace is becoming dangerous. He stressed that "Ukraine does not pose a threat to civil aviation as such – to any civilian aircraft."

"It is simply that there will be drones in the skies over Russia, so this must be taken into account. Although the Russian authorities are not reporting this properly, Russian airspace will de facto be closed: the war Russia has unleashed is closing its skies," he said.
