Amy Anderson

Amy Anderson is the Jeffrey Rubinoff Doctoral Fellow in Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Victoria, where she is completing her PHD dissertation on silent Western cinema. Before receiving her MA in Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto, she spent five years as the programmer and curator for the Victoria B.C independent cinema, Cinecenta.
Amy's doctoral project combines archival research with anti-colonial methodologies and film/media theory to examine depictions of Canadian landscapes and animals in popular 'Northwestern' films pre-1930. Amy is also a research collaborator at the Praxis Studio for Comparative Media Studies at UVic, where she is drawing from her undergraduate background Visual Arts to explore the topic of film studies through alternate media formats such as video essays and podcasting.
