Zelensky Warns Airlines That Russian Airspace Is Becoming Dangerous

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the head of state announced this in his nightly video address.

"Today, we want to warn every airline using Russian airspace, every insurer and everyone still using key Russian airports: Russian airspace is becoming completely dangerous. Ukraine does not pose a threat to civil aviation as such – to any civilian aircraft. It is simply that there will be drones in the skies over Russia, so this must be taken into account. Although the Russian authorities are not reporting this properly, Russian airspace will de facto be closed: the war Russia has unleashed is closing its skies," he said.

Zelensky stressed that he was warning Ukraine's partners because he did not want innocent people to be killed.

He also emphasized the importance of conveying this information to the ambassadors of countries working in Ukraine as well as in Russia.

"Each of them knows exactly what Russia's war means for our country and our people and must convey this information to their capitals. It is important that the relevant airlines currently flying to Russian airports, primarily in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other key Russian destinations, hear this," he said.

Zelensky added that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and other relevant institutions would provide international organizations with comprehensive information about the dangers in Russian airspace, stressing that civil aviation has no place among drones.

Earlier, following the Coalition of the Willing summit in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that given the increasing intensity of Russia's long-range strikes, Ukraine also needed to increase the number of its own long-range strikes.
