CJI-Formed Judicial Infrastructure Advisory Panel Submits Roadmap For Modernising Court Infrastructure Across India

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Sep 1 (KNN) The Judicial Infrastructure Advisory Committee, constituted by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, has submitted its interim report outlining a roadmap for modernising court infrastructure across the country.

Constituted on May 12, 2026, the committee was tasked with assessing infrastructure requirements within the justice delivery system and recommending measures to improve court facilities and working conditions.

The committee is headed by Supreme Court Justice Aravind Kumar and includes Justice Debangsu Basak of the Calcutta High Court, Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan of the Bombay High Court. CPWD Director General Satinder Pal Singh and Supreme Court Secretary General Bharat Parashar, who serves as Member Secretary, are also members.

Focus on Court Infrastructure

According to a Supreme Court statement issued on Monday, the committee has prepared a blueprint for modernising courts nationwide, with emphasis on securing adequate government funding to address existing infrastructure gaps.

Its mandate included identifying infrastructure constraints faced by the justice delivery system and assessing the facilities required by judges, court staff, lawyers, litigants and visitors.

The committee also examined measures to establish modern court complexes and improve working conditions for judicial and administrative staff, with the aim of improving the efficiency of justice delivery.

Digital Courts and Citizen-Centric Services

The committee was further tasked with recommending measures for computerising courts under the e-Courts initiative and developing citizen-centric services to make justice delivery more accessible and inclusive.

Bridging the digital divide was also identified as a key area, alongside the broader need to integrate technology into court infrastructure and services.

The interim report was submitted to the CJI Kant on August 31, within the deadline prescribed for the committee.

The Supreme Court statement did not disclose details of the specific infrastructure projects, funding requirements or recommendations contained in the interim roadmap.
