CJI Sets Up Panel To Address Advocates' Concerns Over Supreme Court Registry

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Sep 1 (KNN) Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant has constituted a committee to examine issues faced by advocates in their day-to-day dealings with the Supreme Court Registry, following a request from the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA).

The committee, headed by Supreme Court Secretary General Bharat Parashar, will examine concerns related to filing, scrutiny, defect marking and curing, listing and other procedural matters.

The move follows a letter dated August 25 from SCAORA President Devvrat to the CJI, seeking an institutional mechanism to address difficulties faced by advocates in their interaction with the Registry.

Committee to Include Bar Representatives

The panel comprises Dr Ajit Atri, Registrar (J) (Judicial Listing); Rajesh Sharma, Registrar (J) (Judicial Administration-I); Vishal, Registrar (J) (Judicial Administration-II); and representatives of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and SCAORA.

In a letter dated August 31, Parashar asked SCAORA to nominate its representative to the committee.

SCAORA had said a structured mechanism involving the Bar and Registry could help identify procedural difficulties and develop practical solutions.

The association expressed hope that the initiative would strengthen coordination between the Bar and Registry and facilitate faster resolution of advocates' concerns.
