Kelogsloops Explores Love And Loss In New Watercolors

(MENAFN- USA Art News) Melbourne-based artist Hieu Thien Nguyen, known professionally as kelogsloops, explores themes of love, loss, and mortality in his fantastical watercolor paintings. These dreamlike works, which often feature a young woman with snow-white hair, incorporate recurring motifs such as towering cumulus clouds, a black wolf, foxes, and other woodland creatures.

A statement for his upcoming exhibition,“Love, Death, & All Her Friends” at Corey Helford Gallery, notes that kelogsloops' art delves into“the intensity of love, the inevitability of loss, and the quiet acceptance that comes with knowing nothing lasts forever.” Emotions and life forces are visually represented through elements like starlight, mist, and wind that swirl through his compositions.

Works such as“The Waiting Room” and“The Carousel” evoke gentle, transitional spaces between reality and the unconscious mind. The artist explains that his exploration of the boundary between awareness and unconsciousness holds“no bitterness, but instead an honest look at what it means to love something, knowing it won't last forever, but to find beauty in that anyway.”

The exhibition“Love, Death, & All Her Friends” opens on September 19 and will be on view through October 24 in Los Angeles. Other featured works include“Koi No Yokan,”“With the Sandman,”“Halley's Comet,”“Flowerspotting,” and“Against the World.”
