Israeli Attackers Attempt Mosque Arson in West Bank
(MENAFN) Israeli settlers attempt to set fire to a mosque in the northern occupied West Bank early Tuesday, marking another attack in the territory, according to reports.
The incident occurs in the town of Bazariya, northwest of Nablus, where the attackers reportedly try to enter the Nur al-Din Zengi Mosque.
After failing to force their way through the mosque’s doors, the attackers ignite a fire in a nearby room and spray racist slogans across the site.
The Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs condemns the incident, calling attacks on mosques and other religious sites a “dangerous and systematic escalation” intended to provoke Muslims.
The ministry urges international and human rights organizations to safeguard places of worship and take action against repeated attacks targeting Palestinian communities across the West Bank.
The incident comes as violence by Israeli settlers continues to intensify throughout the occupied West Bank. According to UN figures, settler attacks reach “unprecedented levels,” with more than 1,430 incidents involving casualties or property damage recorded during 2026 through early August.
