Jordan Hosts FANA Meeting To Boost Arab Media Cooperation
Amman, Sept. 1 (Petra) -General Secretariat of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) is scheduled to convene in Amman on Wednesday, as delegations from news agencies in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Morocco, alongside the federation's General Secretariat.
As for Jordan's initiative to host the meeting, the step comes as part of efforts to strengthen joint Arab media cooperation and develop the performance of Arab news agencies in line with rapid changes in the media sector.
Participants will discuss several issues, mainly the Secretariat's report on the state of the federation for 2025 and 2026, and FANA's draft roadmap for 2026-2030.
On its goals, the roadmap features steps to develop the federation's training institute, headquartered at the Jordan News Agency (Petra), into a regional and international hub for training journalists in the Middle East and Asia.
The discussions will also review a range of media projects and initiatives under the FANA Media Quality Award, including a Saudi photo platform project submitted by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and a proposal for a joint electronic training platform submitted by the Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Participants will also go over adopting a unified Arab protocol for covering terrorism-related news and a project to issue a guide on editorial standards in foreign languages.
On agenda, the meeting will address financial aspects and specialized files, and review procedures for the FANA Media Award for the best report and photo during their various processes, as well as preparations for the federation's 52nd General Assembly conference, planned for November.
