Lubinets: 423 Educational Institutions Destroyed By Enemy Shelling Since Start Of Full-Scale War


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada's Human Rights Commissioner, reported this on Telegram.

“Since the start of the full-scale war, 4,650 educational institutions have been damaged by Russian shelling, and 423 have been completely destroyed. These are thousands of classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, and spaces where Ukrainian children and youth were supposed to study,” he wrote.

According to Lubinets, this year alone, the Ombudsman's Office has received 644 complaints regarding issues with access to education, child safety, admissions, distance learning, school reorganization, bullying, discrimination, and more.

“That is why today we are not just talking about the start of the school year. We are talking about what Ukrainian education should look like in the context of war and what needs to be done to ensure that the right to education remains a reality for every child,” he emphasized.

As previously reported, Ukraine celebrates Knowledge Day on September 1 -today marks the start of the school year in schools, colleges, and universities. The holiday holds special significance for first-graders and freshmen.
