Erdogan Holds Separate Talks with Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan at SCO Summit
(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan holds separate meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Bishkek on Tuesday during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Summit.
During his meeting with Aliyev, Erdogan discusses bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments, according to reports.
He emphasizes the importance of cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, particularly in energy, infrastructure and transportation, saying recent regional developments highlight the value of these joint efforts.
Erdogan also stresses the importance of strengthening ties across various fields under the principle of "two states, one nation," saying closer cooperation would serve the interests of both countries.
He further reaffirms Türkiye’s commitment to supporting peace efforts between Azerbaijan and Armenia, arguing that a peace agreement would "breathe new life into the region."
The Turkish president also invites Aliyev to the upcoming COP31 summit in Antalya, southwestern Türkiye.
Erdogan later holds a separate meeting with Kyrgyz President Japarov at the Yntymak Ordo complex. Japarov is hosting the SCO summit in the Kyrgyz capital.
