Israel Places Palestinian Journalist Bushra Al-Tawil in Solitary Confinement

(MENAFN) Israeli authorities place Palestinian journalist and detainee Bushra al-Tawil in solitary confinement at Ramla prison, nearly six months after she was arrested and placed under administrative detention.

Al-Tawil, a 33-year-old resident of the West Bank city of Al-Bireh, was detained in February before being held without formal charges under an administrative detention order, according to reports. She has previously been arrested on several occasions, with most of her earlier detentions also carried out under the same procedure.

Her history of detention dates back to 2011, when she was 18 years old. Her father, Jamal al-Tawil, is also currently being held in an Israeli prison and has spent prolonged periods in administrative detention.

The al-Tawil family has reportedly been subjected to repeated Israeli raids and harassment. During arrests involving Bushra and her father, their home was also deliberately damaged, according to reports.

During her current detention, al-Tawil has already been placed in solitary confinement several times while held at Damon prison. Her latest transfer to isolation is described as part of a continuing series of punitive measures against her.
