Air Force Spokesperson Says All Cruise Missiles Were Shot Down During Overnight Attack On Ukraine

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, said this on Ukrainian television.

"We are reporting the results of missile interceptions. There were some today. Unfortunately, not as many as we would have liked. We would like to shoot down more, but that requires more capabilities, particularly more Patriot interceptor missiles. As you can see, ballistic missiles were also intercepted today. In fact, all cruise missiles were shot down. These included Kalibr missiles, while some Banderol missiles were also hit, along with a large number of drones. The interception rate remains high, despite the fact that the enemy changed its tactics today and is using many jet-powered UAVs," Ihnat said.

He noted that many ballistic missiles failed to reach their targets.

"Today, in addition to the conventional Iskander-M ballistic missiles, the enemy is using North Korean KN-23 missiles, Zircon missiles, which attack along a ballistic trajectory and approach their targets more accurately, as well as S-400 missiles. The enemy is using a considerable number of S-400 missiles, and a large number of missiles fail to reach their targets. Therefore, information on the number of missiles launched will continue to be released selectively," Ihnat explained.

He recalled that the Ukrainian Air Force provides round-the-clock, real-time information on aerial threats.

Earlier reports said that Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized five ballistic missiles, two Banderol missiles, five Kalibr cruise missiles and 187 drones used by Russian forces to attack Ukraine from the evening of August 31.
