Iran, Kyrgyzstan Seek to Expand Bilateral Cooperation
(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov discuss opportunities to strengthen cooperation between their countries during talks in Bishkek on Monday.
The meeting takes place on the sidelines of the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit as both sides explore ways to broaden bilateral ties.
Pezeshkian emphasizes Tehran’s interest in expanding relations with Kyrgyzstan and calls for greater use of the countries’ potential across several sectors, including trade, investment, energy, transportation, logistics, agriculture, defense, tourism and culture.
“The full implementation of Iran’s free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union and the removal of existing obstacles could pave the way for a surge in economic and commercial relations between the two countries,” Pezeshkian said.
He also highlights the importance of regional cooperation in maintaining stability, saying that “regional security depends on cooperation among the countries of the region and the rejection of foreign interference.”
Japarov expresses Kyrgyzstan’s willingness to strengthen and expand cooperation with Iran across areas of mutual interest.
