Nvidia Expands AI Partnership with MediaTek After Major Investment
(MENAFN) Nvidia invests $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek as the two companies broaden their cooperation in artificial intelligence infrastructure, personal computers and automotive technology.
Under the expanded partnership, MediaTek will incorporate Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion platform into its offerings, enabling customers to create customized AI processors that can connect with Nvidia-powered rack-scale data center systems.
The collaboration is aimed at hyperscalers, cloud providers and advanced AI developers that require specialized processors, or XPUs, designed to handle specific computing workloads.
MediaTek customers will have greater flexibility to tailor connectivity, memory, packaging, performance and power capabilities. Nvidia and MediaTek will provide the necessary technologies, manufacturing support and integration needed to turn these customized solutions into production-ready systems.
The partnership brings together Nvidia’s strengths in accelerated computing, AI software and graphics with MediaTek’s expertise in custom chip development, energy-efficient system-on-chip architecture, advanced packaging and connectivity technologies.
“AI is transforming every computing platform — from the world’s largest AI factories to the PC and the car,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said.
