Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Presents Rs 15.37 Crore Dividend, Outlines New Projects

(MENAFN- IANS) Gandhinagar, Sep 1 (IANS) Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation has presented dividend cheques totalling Rs 15.37 crore to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for the financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25, highlighting the state-run corporation's contribution to the government while continuing to supply agricultural inputs through a network of more than 1,100 centres across the state.

The cheques were presented to CM Patel in Gandhinagar on Tuesday by Minister of State for Agriculture Ramesh Katara and Principal Secretary (Agriculture and Farmers Welfare) R.C. Meena.

The amount comprises Rs 11.14 crore as dividend for 2023-24 and Rs 4.23 crore for 2024-25.

Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation, a state government undertaking operating since 1969, is involved in the supply of fertilisers and other agricultural inputs, promotion of agricultural machinery and equipment, development of agro-processing industries and creation of agricultural infrastructure.

During the meeting, CM Patel was briefed on the corporation's operations, including the sale of fertilisers, non-fertilisers and other agro-inputs to farmers through around 1,156 Agri Business Centres across Gujarat.

The corporation has also established agricultural infrastructure facilities at Bavla, Ahmedabad Airport, Jhagadia, Naroda and Mahuva.

It is currently constructing an Agri Business and Innovation Hub at Tragad in Ahmedabad, according to the information presented to the Chief Minister.

Meena also briefed CM Patel on Detailed Project Reports being prepared for several proposed initiatives, including projects related to Geographical Indication (GI) tags, a millet value-addition unit, and a banana fibre extraction and powder-processing unit.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sanjeev Kumar, and Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Managing Director Vijay Kharadi were also present at the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Patel and Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary attended the inaugural ceremony of a one-day special training workshop organised at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretariat for newly appointed district and taluka panchayat office-bearers.

The workshop focused on various aspects of the Panchayati Raj system.
