Estonia's Defense Minister Says Ukrainian Drones Entered Country's Airspace Again
Pevkur said that several hours earlier, Ukrainian drones had entered Estonian airspace. He noted that Estonia had been prepared for such an incident and that NATO aircraft had been monitoring the situation. Fortunately, he said, neither people nor Estonian territory had been affected.
According to the minister, the incident shows that the consequences of the war are drawing increasingly closer. He stressed that this underscores the importance of continuing to support Ukraine and providing it with air defense capabilities.
Asked about countering hybrid attacks in Europe, Pevkur called for strengthening defense capabilities and sending Moscow a clear message about allied unity. He said that countries needed to build up their capabilities, particularly in air defense, and make it clear to Russia that the allies stand united.

He referred to an incident in Leipzig, Germany, as well as an attack on one of Estonia's largest defense industry companies. He said prosecutors were investigating the latter case and that Estonia was cooperating with Latvia because the perpetrators had arrived from Latvia.
According to Pevkur, Russia is testing the threshold for invoking Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty and trying to determine where the "thin red line" lies. He said this was why the allies needed to clearly demonstrate that they were united and would act together.
At the same time, Pevkur called for calm and urged against overreacting, stressing the need to distinguish between criminal offenses and military attacks.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna previously said that Ukrainian drones that were knocked off course by Russian electronic warfare systems and entered NATO territory were a price worth paying for the destruction of Russian oil refineries and military bases. He added that Estonia would not ask Ukraine to halt such attacks.
