Mining, Cement Workers' Union Signs Collective Agreement With Arab Cement Company

Amman, Sep. 1 (Petra) -- The General Trade Union of Workers in Mines, Mining, and Cement signed a collective labor agreement with Arab Cement Company, providing several benefits aimed at improving workers' economic and social conditions. The agreement will remain in effect until the end of 2027.

According to a union statement issued Tuesday, the agreement was signed by General Trade Union President Khaled Fanatsa and the company's Chairman Hassouni Muheilan. It provides for a JD15 increase in the basic salary of all company employees, effective June 1.

Under the agreement, the company will also regularize the status of all contract workers who have completed more than one year of employment. The measure applies to 10 workers and is intended to strengthen job stability and security.

The agreement also includes a JD10 monthly increase in the cost-of-living allowance, effective January 1, 2027.

Both parties affirmed their commitment to maintaining a work environment based on cordiality, understanding and mutual appreciation, and to strengthening positive labor relations between company management and employees in a way that supports continued work and production and the company's role in the national economy.

The union and the company's union committee also agreed not to submit any new financial demands during the agreement's term.

The agreement was signed as part of the General Trade Union's role in collective bargaining, defending workers' rights and improving working conditions, while seeking to balance workers' interests with the sustainability of enterprises, productivity and stability in the labor market.
