European Peace Facility Funds Could Become Available To Ukraine Kallas
Asked whether Ukraine could expect any concrete results from today's meeting of defense ministers, Kallas noted that the informal nature of the meeting did not provide for any decisions to be taken, while adding that discussions would include efforts to unblock European Peace Facility funds.
“We will not take any decisions directly, but we are indeed working to unblock the European Peace Facility,” she said.
It should be recalled that €6.6 billion available under the European Peace Facility instrument remains blocked as member states continue discussions over the mechanism for distributing the funds.
“If this happens in the coming days, many member states have already said that all the funds they receive back [for defense spending already incurred – Ed.] will be provided to Ukraine. So this would also mean significant additional funding for air defenses and the weapons Ukraine needs,” she said.

Asked how much funding Ukraine could potentially receive from the €6.6 billion, the High Representative declined to make any predictions, saying that the ongoing discussion among member states concerns“how much goes back to the member states and how much will go to Ukraine, so I cannot give any concrete figures.”
As previously reported by Ukrinform, during today's informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Ireland, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas will reiterate her call for member states that have ballistic-missile interceptors in storage to provide them to Ukraine.
