US-Iran Escalation: 3 Dead in Larak Strike, IRGC Hits 3 Bases

(MENAFN) Three people are dead after a United States strike targeted a site on Iran's Larak Island late Sunday, according to a Monday report from a semi-official news agency.

The news agency reported that the attack, which struck a location on the island in Iran's southern Hormozgan province, initially claimed two lives and left several others wounded. One of the injured later succumbed to their wounds at a hospital, raising the confirmed death toll to three.

In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced early Monday that it had launched ballistic missiles at two US-linked airbases in Jordan — King Hussein and Azraq — and deployed explosive drones against Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates.

The IRGC described the strikes as direct retaliation for the US assault on Larak Island. That original strike, officials said, was intended to prevent Iran from planting sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz — a vital corridor for global oil shipments.
