Lebanese Teen Killed by Israeli Cluster Bomb Remnant in South
(MENAFN) A teenager in Lebanon lost his life Monday after a leftover cluster bomb from earlier Israeli strikes detonated in the southern town of Haboush, Lebanon's official National News Agency reported.
Mohammed Ali Ibrahim succumbed to injuries suffered in the explosion, which occurred in the town's al-Arid neighborhood, according to the agency.
A second teenager was wounded in the blast as well, the agency noted, though no additional details on his condition were released.
The young victim's father, Ali Ibrahim, had previously died in an earlier Israeli strike on southern Lebanon, the agency said.
Earlier that same day, the agency reported that two other individuals had been hurt when a cluster bomb — also left over from Israeli attacks — exploded in the same area.
Israel has kept up military operations across Lebanon since launching a fresh offensive in March, with its troops pushing further into southern territory.
On June 26, Lebanon and Israel struck a US-brokered framework deal outlining a phased Israeli pullback in exchange for the Lebanese army's deployment and the disarmament of armed factions, including Hezbollah.
