Iran Vows to Strike Any Base Used in US Attacks on Its Soil
(MENAFN) Iran issued a stark warning Monday: any location serving as a launchpad for American strikes against its territory will become a target, as Tehran accused Washington of persistently exploiting the land, airspace, and infrastructure of regional nations to carry out attacks against it.
The threat came in a joint statement from Iran's Armed Forces General Staff and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which said the United States had pressed ahead with such operations even after earlier warnings and pledges from certain countries in the region.
Both military bodies stressed that Tehran honors the sovereignty of its neighbors but stated it "will never tolerate aggression," cautioning that any additional strike would trigger a "much heavier" retaliation.
As proof of that resolve, they cited overnight operations carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran's regular army.
"The US has no choice but to leave the region," the statement declared.
The statement further cautioned any nation enabling US military operations that the IRGC and Iranian army would together strike back at the origin of any assault with "overwhelming force."
"Do not test" Iran's military resolve again, the statement warned.
The rhetoric follows a US strike Sunday that hit two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island, near the Strait of Hormuz, leaving two dead and two wounded, according to Iranian media reports.
Iran responded by launching retaliatory strikes on sites tied to US forces in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
