Algeria, Germany Push to Deepen Trade Ties in Key Sectors
(MENAFN) Algeria and Germany took steps Monday to broaden their bilateral relationship, prioritizing new investment opportunities and partnerships across critical economic sectors.
The initiative emerged from talks held in Algiers between Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul, who is currently in the country on a working visit, according to Algeria's Foreign Ministry.
The two officials pinpointed energy, renewable power, the energy transition, industry, transportation and pharmaceuticals as the sectors where deeper cooperation would be prioritized. They further agreed to activate existing bilateral cooperation frameworks, reinforce the legal structures underpinning the partnership, and foster stronger connections between the business communities of both nations.
Monday's discussions build on groundwork laid during Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's visit to Berlin in July, when the two countries signed a joint declaration outlining a strategic roadmap for their partnership.
Attaf and Wadephul also used the meeting to address regional developments in the Middle East and the Sahel, as well as opportunities for broader Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.
Both officials underscored the importance of following through on the agreements and partnership contracts finalized during July's Algerian-German Economic Forum.
