Polish Intelligence Investigates Fire at Drone Factory Supplying Ukraine
(MENAFN) Poland's counterintelligence and counterterrorism authorities launch an investigation Monday into an overnight fire at a factory producing drone components for the Polish and Ukrainian armed forces.
Investigators are examining whether the blaze at the facility in Skarzysko-Kamienna in southern Poland was deliberately started. The factory is operated by one of the country's largest privately owned defense companies.
Unverified reports indicate that security footage may have captured a masked individual inside the factory around the time the fire occurred, raising further questions about whether the incident could have been intentional.
The defense company operating the site, WB Group, describes the fire as "minor," while government officials stress that authorities are treating the incident as a serious matter.
“ABW (Internal Security Agency) officers are working to determine whether this could be considered an act of sabotage or not,” spokesman Jacek Dobrzynski said.
No injuries are reported, and authorities continue assessing the damage caused by the fire.
WB Group says the facility's safety and emergency procedures function properly and that the blaze is brought under control quickly.
"All procedures and safety systems worked as they should, and the fire was quickly extinguished," the company said.
The factory is expected to restart operations after the required administrative procedures are completed.
