China, Kyrgyzstan Deepen Ties with Long-Term Friendship Treaty
(MENAFN) China and Kyrgyzstan strengthen their bilateral relationship by signing a treaty focused on “eternal good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation” as Chinese President Xi Jinping meets Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Bishkek during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
The two leaders also sign a joint declaration supporting the high-quality development of their comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era, according to the Kyrgyz presidency. The agreements are intended to expand cooperation in areas including trade, infrastructure and economic development.
The documents are signed during Xi's state visit to Kyrgyzstan, which takes place alongside the SCO summit in the country's capital.
The new treaty establishes a long-term framework for relations between the two countries, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining close political and economic ties.
Xi describes the current period in China-Kyrgyzstan relations as a “golden period” of development, while Japarov portrays China as a trusted friend, close neighbor and dependable partner.
The agreement comes as Beijing continues to strengthen its economic presence across Central Asia through major transportation, infrastructure and development projects.
One of the most significant initiatives is the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which is expected to improve transportation connections between China and Central Asia while creating an additional trade route toward markets farther west.
