Air Defenses Neutralize 10 Missiles And 187 Drones Used By Russia To Attack Ukraine Overnight

Starting at 18:00 on August 31, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with:

Iskander-M/KN-23/S-400 ballistic missiles and Zircon anti-ship missiles launched from the Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh and Rostov regions;

Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles from Novorossiysk;

Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles launched from airspace over the Black Sea;

S8000 Banderol missiles launched from the Bryansk region and from airspace over the Sea of Azov;

218 Shahed attack UAVs, about one-third of them jet-powered, and Parodiya decoy drones launched from the directions of Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.

The main areas targeted were the Odesa and Kyiv regions.

The air assault was repelled by aircraft, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:30 on September 1, Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 199 targets:

five ballistic missiles;

two S8000 Banderyl missiles;

five Kalibr cruise missiles;

187 drones.

Missile and attack UAV strikes were recorded at 28 locations, while downed targets and debris were reported to have fallen at 10 locations.

In addition, some enemy missiles failed to reach their targets, and information about their locations is being clarified.

The attack is ongoing, with more than 10 enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, eight people were killed in Kyiv as a result of Russia's ballistic attack overnight on September 1, while five others were injured, including three children.

According to Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, seven people were killed in Kyi in the Russian attack on a railway depot and other railway facilities. Six of those killed were railway employees.

In the Kyiv region, four people were killed and 13 injured in the Russian missile attack.
