Türkiye Holds Defense Talks with Pakistan Ahead of Trilateral Meeting

(MENAFN) Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler meets senior Pakistani officials in Istanbul on Monday as the three countries prepare for a trilateral defense gathering involving Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Guler holds separate discussions with Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, according to official statements.

The talks take place shortly before the inaugural session of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, which was created under the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The committee is set to convene in Istanbul later on Monday, marking its first meeting since the agreement established the framework for closer strategic and defense cooperation among the three countries.

Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu also joins Guler during his meetings with both Pakistani officials.
