Himanta Sarma Extends Greetings To IIT Guwahati On 33Rd Foundation Day
In a post on X, CM Sarma described the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati as one of the premier technology institutions of the country and lauded its contribution to the advancement of science and technology.
“The IIT Guwahati is one of the premier technology institutions of the country contributing significantly to the progress of science and technology in the country. As it celebrates its 33rd Foundation Day, my best wishes to all its faculty and students in its journey ahead,” the Chief Minister posted.
CM Sarma's message comes as IIT Guwahati marks more than three decades of its academic and research journey, having emerged as a prominent centre for higher education, innovation and technological research in the Northeast. Established in 1994, IIT Guwahati is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology to be established in the country. Over the years, the institute has developed a strong presence across engineering, science, technology and interdisciplinary research, while also contributing to innovation and entrepreneurship.
The institute's growth has also strengthened Assam's position as an emerging hub for higher education and technology in the Northeast.
