Qatar Condemns Iran Attacks, Al-Aqsa Storming, Niger Unrest

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar has strongly condemned renewed Iranian attacks on Jordan with missiles and on the UAE with a drone, calling them a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries and a breach of international law and the UN Charter.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement yesterday that Iran's continued attacks represented a dangerous escalation that could complicate de-escalation efforts and undermine diplomatic and political initiatives aimed at restoring security and stability.

It also called for a serious return to dialogue and negotiations, and for adherence to understandings reached through diplomatic efforts.

Doha reaffirmed its full solidarity with Jordan and the UAE and said it supported measures taken by the two countries to protect their sovereignty and security.

In a separate statement, the ministry condemned the storming of al-Aqsa Mosque by the extremist Israeli national security minister and groups of settlers, calling it a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law and an unacceptable provocation to the feelings of millions of Muslims worldwide. It stressed that al-Aqsa is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that all unilateral measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites are null and void under international law.

The ministry also condemned and denounced the incidents in Niamey, the capital of Niger, affirming Qatar's full solidarity with Niger and its support for all legitimate measures taken to preserve its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. (QNA)
