France To Convene UN Security Council Meeting On Ukraine During High-Level Week, Source Says
“France, in particular, will convene a meeting on Ukraine, most likely during the High-Level Week,” the source noted.
It is expected that the meeting on Ukraine could take place at the highest political level-with the participation of heads of state or ministers. The possibility of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's participation is also being considered; last year, he attended a UN Security Council meeting in New York during High-Level Week.
The diplomatic source also confirmed that French President Emmanuel Macron will participate in this year's UN General Assembly.
France will hold the presidency of the UN Security Council throughout September-this will be France's 70th term as Security Council president.
It was previously reported that its primary goal will be to achieve effective multilateralism in support of international peace and security.
In addition to Ukraine, France plans to pay special attention to the situation in the Middle East. Specifically, it aims to take stock of the year since the adoption of the New York Declaration on Palestine and to reinvigorate the international community's efforts to implement it in order to preserve the two-state solution.
The French presidency will also coincide with the process of electing a new UN Secretary-General, so Paris plans to facilitate this process in the Security Council to ensure that the recommendation on the candidate is forwarded to the General Assembly as soon as possible.

According to the French side, 122 states have already supported the initiative since its launch in 2015.
As previously reported, France's Permanent Representative to the UN, Jérôme Bonnafont, called on the Security Council to take measures to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
