BP Begins Production From Fayoum 4 Well In Egypt's West Nile Delta

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) BP has started production from the Fayoum 4 well in Egypt's West Nile Delta, adding new natural gas volumes to the domestic market as the company continues to invest in the region.

The well is expected to produce around 80 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscf/d).

The start of production follows BP's successful 2025 exploration campaign, which led to the discovery of the Fayoum well. BP accelerated the project's development, bringing forward gas production by around two years compared with the original schedule.

As part of the development, BP successfully drilled a sidetrack to access new Messinian reservoir layers within the West Nile Delta field at depths of approximately 3,000 metres. The approach avoided the need to drill a separate well or install new subsea infrastructure.

Production has been connected to the West Nile Delta gas processing facilities through the Giza-Fayoum pipeline, using innovative engineering solutions to overcome technical challenges and leverage existing offshore infrastructure to unlock additional gas volumes.

Wail Shaheen, Chairperson of BP Egypt, said:“The start of production from Fayoum 4 reflects BP's continued support for the Ministry of Petroleum's strategy to accelerate development activities, maximise the use of existing infrastructure, and deploy the latest technologies to increase domestic natural gas production in Egypt.”

The West Nile Delta comprises a group of offshore gas fields located within the North Alexandria and West Mediterranean Deepwater concessions in Egyptian waters.

BP operates the West Nile Delta facilities with an 82.75% interest, while Harbour Energy holds the remaining 17.25%.
