Arab Parliament Speaker Condemns Iranian Drone Attacks On Jordan, UAE

Cairo, Aug. 31 (Petra) -- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Yamahi on Monday condemned in the strongest terms Iran's drone attacks on Jordan and the UAE, reiterating that the repeated assaults are a flagrant violation of the two countries' sovereignty and a direct threat to their security and stability.

He said the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states are an indivisible whole, and that any attack on one Arab state constitutes an attack on the entire Arab national security system.

Yamahi expressed the Arab Parliament's full solidarity with Jordan and the UAE and its support for all measures the two countries take to protect their security, sovereignty and the safety of their citizens and residents, stressing their legitimate right to self-defense under the UN Charter and international law.

He called on the international community and the UN Security Council to shoulder their legal and political responsibilities, take a firm stance against the attacks, and work to halt them and prevent their recurrence to avert wider escalation and preserve regional and international peace and security.

Yamahi warned that the continuation of such attacks would undermine efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, stressing the need to respect state sovereignty, refrain from interference in internal affairs, and uphold international law and the UN Charter to spare the region further tension and escalation.
