Thousands Of KP School Classrooms In Need Of Urgent Repairs, Report

PESHAWAR: As many as 36,967 classrooms in government schools across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are awaiting reconstruction or major repairs, according to a report.

The report states that 19,224 classrooms require complete reconstruction, while another 17,743 classrooms need major repairs.

Of the classrooms awaiting reconstruction, 12,322 are in boys' schools and 6,902 are in girls' schools. Meanwhile, 12,136 classrooms in boys' schools and 5,607 in girls' schools require major repairs.

In the settled districts, a total of 16,934 classrooms require reconstruction, while 14,632 classrooms are awaiting major repairs, according to the report.

Among individual districts, Swat requires the reconstruction of 2,625 classrooms, while another 685 classrooms need major repairs.

In Mardan, 1,381 classrooms require reconstruction, while in Peshawar, 840 classrooms are awaiting reconstruction and 845 require major repairs.

The report highlights the need for urgent attention to the condition of government school infrastructure across the province.

The Education Department has declined to comment on the matter.
