Iranian President Begins Kyrgyzstan Visit for SCO Meeting


(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrives in Bishkek on Monday for a two-day visit focused on participating in the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

Pezeshkian travels to the Kyrgyz capital accompanied by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as leaders from member states gather for the regional meeting.

During his stay, the Iranian president is expected to hold several high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. His agenda includes talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, according to reports.

The meetings are expected to provide an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments with several key partners.

On the second day of his visit, Pezeshkian is scheduled to address the SCO gathering of heads of state, where broader regional and international issues are expected to be discussed.
