Türkiye’s Economy Expands in Second Quarter
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s economy records annual growth during the second quarter of 2026, with official figures showing a 2.3% increase compared with the same period last year.
On a quarterly basis, gross domestic product rises 1.1% between April and June after seasonal and calendar adjustments, according to official statistics.
Agriculture, forestry and fishing emerge as the fastest-growing areas of the economy, with their combined value added increasing 13.3% year-on-year during the quarter. The information and communication sector follows with 8.6% growth.
Public administration, education, human health and social work activities expand 4%, while other service activities record a 3.2% increase. Industry grows 2.4%, and both financial and insurance activities and real estate post 2.1% growth.
Professional, administrative and support services rise 2%, while trade, transportation, accommodation and food services register more modest growth of 0.5%.
Construction is the only major economic sector to experience a decline, contracting 1.9% from the previous year.
At current prices, Türkiye’s GDP reaches 19.87 trillion Turkish liras, equivalent to about $438.35 billion, representing a 36% annual increase in nominal terms.
Household final consumption also strengthens, rising 3.5% in volume terms from a year earlier. Government consumption, however, decreases 1.8% over the same period.
