UAE Air Force Responds to Drone Approaching from Iran

(MENAFN) The United Arab Emirates says its Air Force responds to a drone detected over the country’s territorial waters after it approaches from Iranian territory.

According to the UAE Defense Ministry, military forces act after the unmanned aerial vehicle is detected in Emirati waters, while the country’s armed forces remain on heightened alert to deal with any possible security threats.

The ministry later rejects reports claiming that missiles target Al Minhad Air Base, describing those reports as “false.”

The developments come shortly after Iran’s military says it launches dozens of explosive drones toward US personnel and helicopters stationed at the UAE air base. Tehran describes the operation as retaliation for a US strike against Iran’s Larak Island.

US forces carried out the strike on Sunday, targeting two Iranian launchers on Larak Island. The operation marks the first reported US attacks on Iranian territory since late July, according to reports.

The exchange of claims comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over the potential expansion of hostilities involving Iran, the US and military facilities across the Gulf.
