Turkish President Heads to Kyrgyzstan for SCO Summit
(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan departs Ankara on Monday and travels to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.
Erdogan leaves Ankara Airport at 9 a.m. local time aboard a special presidential aircraft. His wife, Emine Erdogan, and members of the accompanying delegation also join him on the trip.
The Turkish president receives a formal send-off at the airport before beginning his journey. Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Presidential Secretary-General Hakki Susmaz, Ankara Governor Yakup Canbolat and several other senior officials are present to bid farewell to Erdogan.
The visit comes as leaders and senior representatives gather in Bishkek for the SCO Summit, where regional and international issues are expected to feature prominently in discussions.
