Nepal: 933 Workers Trapped at Flood-Hit Hydropower Sites

(MENAFN) Nearly 933 workers are believed trapped at approximately six hydropower project sites in Nepal following last week's catastrophic flooding, the country's disaster agency said Monday.

The Disaster Management Authority said rescue teams are working to reach the stranded workers as relief operations continue across flood-affected regions, according to media.

The flooding has left a trail of destruction across Nepal, damaging roads, bridges and other infrastructure and severing access to numerous affected areas.

Search efforts also continue for individuals still reported missing after floods and landslides tore through parts of the country, even as authorities work to assess the damage to hydropower facilities and other critical infrastructure.
