Iran Targets US Forces at UAE Air Base with Explosive Drones
(MENAFN) Iran’s military says it launches dozens of explosive drones toward a UAE air base housing US troops and helicopters early Monday, describing the operation as retaliation for a recent US strike on Larak Island.
According to Iranian reports, the Islamic Republic of Iran Army says the drones target locations at Al Minhad Air Base where US military personnel and helicopters are stationed.
The Iranian military describes Al Minhad as a key logistics and air transport facility used by foreign forces and warns that additional attacks against US troops could follow.
Iran says the operation is carried out in response to the deaths of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members and civilians in a US strike against Larak Island on Sunday.
The US operation targets two Iranian launchers on the island, reportedly marking the first US strikes against Iranian territory since late July.
According to reports, the launch systems were targeted because they were allegedly being prepared to fire rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC says several military personnel and civilians were killed or wounded in the US attack and vows to retaliate.
